Onderzoeksexpertise

I obtained my Ph.D at the University of Antwerp in November 2014 with the thesis 'HIV and Mortality, Autopsy Studies from Uganda'. For this thesis we performed 2 autopsy studies in hospitalized HIV-infected adults. We studied the correlation between clinical and autopsy diagnosis and validated minimal invasive autopsies as a methods to establish cause of death. Moreover, we studied the acceptance of complete autopsy and looked at temporal trends in causes of death in out-patients.

Currently, I hold a post-doctoral position at the Unit of Tropical Laboratory Medicine. My research is focussed on antibiotic stewardship and antimicrobial resistance in resource limited settings.
