Research expertise

Jef Vanhamel is a medical doctor with a postgraduate degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health. He is currently working as a public health researcher in the domain of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH).

His interests are health systems research, providing care for vulnerable populations, and strategies for effective service delivery of health care. Currently, his main focus is on HIV prevention, especially the introduction of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) as a new HIV prevention tool in Belgium.
